Why does Smitten need my location?

Updated

Smitten uses your location to show you people nearby, so the Feed won’t load until you allow it. Choose “While Using the App” on iPhone, or the “while using the app” option on Android.

Allow location from the app

On the Feed’s “Allow location” screen, tap “Continue”. If you said no before, Smitten opens your phone’s Settings so you can change it there.

On iPhone

  1. Open your phone’s Settings.
  2. Find and tap Smitten.
  3. Tap Location.
  4. Choose While Using the App.

On Android

  1. Open your phone’s Settings.
  2. Tap Apps, then Smitten.
  3. Tap Permissions, then Location.
  4. Choose the option to allow only while using the app.

Menu names vary a little between phones and Android versions.

Good to know

  • You don’t need “Always Allow”. Smitten only asks for your location while you’re using the app.
  • “Turn on location services” means location is off for your whole phone. Turn it on in your phone’s settings.
  • “Can’t find your location” means your phone couldn’t get a location. Move somewhere with a clearer signal and tap “Try again”.
  • You can’t set your location by hand.
