A match expires after 10 days without any new messages or reactions. Every message or reaction from either of you restarts the 10 days.
How to keep track
- The top of the chat shows how long is left, for example “Chat runs out in 3 days”.
- When a chat is running out, you’ll see “Send a message to keep the convo alive” at the bottom of it.
- About a day before a match expires, we send you a reminder notification (if notifications are on).
After a match expires
- The chat and its messages are gone and can’t be restored.
- You may come across that person in your Feed again later, with a “Re-like” heart. If you both like each other again, you’ll match with a fresh, empty chat. See What does the blue heart mean?
- Unmatching is different: someone you’ve unmatched won’t show up in your Feed again. See I accidentally unmatched someone.
